zombieFOODI recently was talking to one of my friends whitey about why none of my friends visit my website. He said, if I don’t get this wrong, something to the extent that I never update my website and I don’t really have anything interesting to say. Maybe I made the last part up. Anyway, I really do want people to visit this site and to be encouraged to comment, especially my friends which would include, but not be limited to (ed, ansotegui ( why you gotta play me like that, brassiere? huh d-cup? ), xsh ( aka josh, cheers….to WOW), tony, toni, erin, mike, thurston, chris, krysti, niloc, kylan, tyler, jesse, t-HAD, blah, blah, etc… Anyway, maybe this is a cry for attention, maybe not. But I have noticed that I sure don’t get a lot of feedback from the ol’ friends.

komodo media redesignOnto new topics. Over the past 2 months or so, I have been very busy. I have been dumping a lot of my time into redesigning komodo media. I want komodo media to still be a blog and a fun site, but more than that I would like it to be much more professional. The new redesign but still in production can be viewed here. Please feel free to check it out in any browser as it takes shape and let me know what you think, be it bad or rad. I have put quite some time into this redesign so I quite love it and I hope you do too.

the loverly vondeutchMoving to mediatemple.com. Yup. After almost a year of trying to host my website on my DSL line, and learning much in the process, I have decided to move my website to the shared hosting servers of mediatemple. Let me tell you that DSL sho aint a great way to host. It is very very slow and I do not like the headache. Also, funny thing is that from my bud eddy’s store ( mtmainnews.com) I cannot see this website and from my home, I cannot see mtmainnews.com. Very confusing and not so cool. So, I sure hope this hosting change works out well. The company seems solid and has won awards. Also, stopdesign.com is hosted on mediatemple’s servers and is a pretty prestigious site, so I figure what the hey… it better work. Plus, eliminating the headache of hosting and controlling my own email servers will now be on the pros. I’ll stick to what I do best, coding and design.

Eddy just had a birthday ( happy 28 eduardo!, i’m still gonna get you a gift ), mexican themed and was short but fun. Lots of good food and many friends. Eddy is a very blessed individual that has the gift of many many friends. Probably because he’s such a dang nice boy. Maybe. Yeah, I think thats it. Most all people showed up to the party in a flannel type shirt buttoned all the way to the top, senorita style clothing or with a blanket over them. However, there was this one guy that was apparently a little sexually disturbed or just really a frickin funny guy that decides to show up as a ghey mexican. He was a mexiCAN definitely and NOT a mexiCANT. Lets just say this dood showed up with a bowtied bandanna, cutoff wife beater tank, vikkis secret thong, ladies jeans and flip flops. Go figure.

Well enough for tonight, it is getting late. I guess this is one of the first real blog style posts that I have created. I’m proud of it. Maybe I’ll keep doing it. Hopefully. Well, off to sleep….or WOW ;)

    dude the site is looking sweet as hell. you’ll have to throw a theme switcher my way, i’m looking but it’s a total pain in the ass. what are you using for your news updating? did you write that?

  2. rogie said 3003 days ago

    Hey whitey,

    thanks for commenting. it’s about time somebody comments. i’ll help you get that theme switcher up n running. i have some of the code written. I guess I need to ask what you need. Do you just want to link a number of external stylesheets ( alternate ) and then the theme switcher will take care of it from there? Or should it be as simple as just changing the background. The stylesheet switcher itself would be a tad harder but work much better for you in the long run. It would also be cookie based so that anyone with cookies enabled will have that style remembered. On another note, I have code written for the text resizer and I have to complete it for this next redesign anyhoo. Do you want that as well? I figure I’ll have both of those done early this week sometime. Well, let me know bro. Also, what do you mean by “news updating”? Do you mean what blogging software do I use?

  3. whitey said 3003 days ago

    yeah your blog software, and you should have it save cookies so people don’t have to type name/email/url every time. i’ll take the text resize also. my ultimate goal is to have a bunch of different designs so the user can choose the layout, so switching out entire referenced stylesheets would be keen.

  4. rogie said 3003 days ago

    yeah, bro everything is a work in progress. I have that theme switcher done and it works sweet! I have it in place and working on this site. If you’ll notice, the banner has to miniature little pages. One switches out to this style and the other one switches out to an empty style sheet for now. But you can add any number of alternate stylesheets and you are good! Here’s the down low:

    <link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”screen, projection” href=”/includes/css/main.css” title=”main” />

    <link rel=”alternate stylesheet” type=”text/css” media=”screen, projection” href=”/includes/css/simple.css” title=”simple” />

    These two links are links to the stylesheets. The one that says rel=”stylesheet” is the main stylesheet and the one that says rel=”alternate stylesheet” is …you guessed it the alternate style sheet. Make sure that you give each one a title, because that is how you will switch out. Now, anywhere on your page, put links like this:

    <a title=”Main” href=”javascript:setActiveStyleSheet(‘main’)”>
    Main Theme
    </a>
    <a title=”Simple” href=”javascript:setActiveStyleSheet(’simple’)”>
    Simple Theme
    </a>

    Be sure to use the javascript like this: setActiveStyleSheet(‘ title of the stylesheet that you want set’)

    The last thing that you will have to do is change some of the cookie code, but I changed that for you to zombiefood.com. Here is the js file that you will want to have linked to your page with the theme switching functions in it. Download it at http://komodomedia.com/blog/downloads/js_theme_switcher.js.

    When u download that file, include it in the head of webpage like this:

    <script src=”PATH TO FILE/js_theme_switcher.js” language=”JavaScript” type=”text/javascript”></script>

    check it, the two buttons in the top right corner. the only problem is that the cookies aren’t saved across the board. i referenced script in my archive template (that’s what you view when you click ‘comments’), and it just defaults to the main template. i think i can find a workaround.

  6. whitey said 3002 days ago

    actually fixed it, it was referenced, but movable type puts it’s archives in the archives folder, and it wasn’t finding the script there, so i had to put the zombiefood.com prefix to it. done and done. check out the site, and thanks for the code, it’s a thousand times simpler than the other shit i found on the internet

    I didn’t know you had a blog type thing set up. You should feel good that put real ‘information’ in your ‘boxes’. IF you know what I mean….. Sweet looking site by the way. Soft on the eyes.

    lol! i <3 j00r site d00d!

    lol I wish I could program. This is a pretty tight little set up though… I will visit often now that i know the address.

    those wavy lines make me feel very comfortable… almost at peace with my inner being.

    *sigh*

  9. rogie said 3002 days ago

    haha, you guys are funny and too kind…ooohhh too kind. whitey, so glad to hear that the script worked for you and I am glad that it is much simpler. I will go check out your site naow! Do you like how the theme switcher on mine switches to nothing! ha. Also, h4x and thater, thanks so much for visiting. I do like the wavy lines too. They make me feel for the first time in a world that is filled with business and stress that maybe…just maybe there is a glimmer of peace out there. Someone oughta talk to whitey about those vertical stripes! jk. lawl. ;)

  10. h4x said 3002 days ago

    yeah those pinstripes are teh lose, opposite of the horizontal wavey lines. You should have a ‘remember me’ type thing so I don’t have to fill out those boxes again.

  11. rogie said 3001 days ago

    h4x you got it. rest assured you will have that remember me thingy. rest a’frickin sured.

  12. rogie said 3001 days ago

    hey whitey, c’mon n get it. your code has been finished. i found the problem. the cookie code was written to expire at whatever date was sent, but i didn’t set the date, so the cookie was expiring when the user’s session was complete. to make sure it works, i got it working on my site. try it out!

    here is the code to download:
    http://komodomedia.com/blog/downloads/js_theme_switcher.js

    just copy over your other copy and you should be good! also, it is not domain dependent, so you can move it to any domain i.e. zombiepoo.com and it should work bro. peace. maybe see ya on WoW.

    do you know what this name “vondeutch” means.
    should this name be from germany or netherland?
    this would be “ofenglish” in english. ;)

    by the way, your site is realy cute designed.
    the tabs are great with all the details.
    but the content text could have more space.

    greetings from z?
