Hey hey, good tips there! Flash has got to be the worse about cashing, especially when your loading in dynamic content. Another way I do it is appending a time stamp on the dynamic url that flash is getting its image, swf, xml, yada yada from.

And heck yah, get that tumble log tumbling!

@Anders: No kidding. Well, I guess you’ll just have to see what happens when the redesign comes around. I agree with your comment about the flash titles. I think initially, when you create a website, you want everything. As you become more experienced, you appreciate simplicity much more.

While we are on the (off) topic of your flashy titles, they are a bit disruptive. I mostly middle-click links to open in a new Tab in Firefox or IE7. When I find links that I like, I want to right-click it and do a “Copy Link Location”. None of those things work with flash-based headings.

If you are hosted at a web hotel or if you own/lease a dedicated server, you can do equally nice-looking headings as server-side dynamically rendered images, which wouldn’t break non-simple-left-click behavior.

Back on topic: This is a nice tidbit of a tip. As web developers, we mostly tend to focus on how to get things to cache as efficiently as possible, sometimes forgetting that you really don’t want to cache everything!
