I went to Starbucks this morning. Now, their coffee jackets have ads on them. I pretty much read whats all over the cups every time, including the “The Way I See It.” However, this time an ad for Arctic Tale caught my eye. It’s tag line was “The change in their world impacts us all” with a picture of some Walrus’ on the front.
All I can think after reading that is let’s save us before saving them. In a world where many are dying needlessly as well as freely killing human life before it gets the choice, why are we putting effort into saving the Walrus?
I love animals and always have. I used to memorize all of the animals the book and all of their latin names. I want animals to be around for our children and grandchildren. This has nothing to do with me being a blood-hungry savage that wants animal life destroyed. I just think our priorities are wrong. That being said, I appreciate some have a voice for the animals. Lets do our part to have a voice for the humans.

Good thought my friend. I pray that the gift of human life is recognized by many.
Yeah! And while you’re at it put the dolphin back in my can of tuna! It tastes better that way!
@John: Word. Dolphins are yummy. I really want to eat a whale shark. I hear that they are almost extinct.
No worries Rogie. This generation is going to do great things for the humans. Look at the young Christians, we have a whole generation of people who “get it” in their hearts, not just their head. I believe in the next few years we will see great good done for the human race. Here’s my personal favorite “good” thing. *Warning* once you click on it, you can no longer claim ignorance.

@Amy: I agree and I like how you say “the humans.” We are “the humans,” keeper of light, dwellers in peace, lovers of mankind, namers of animals. Well, there’s my inner dork coming out again. Down boy.
Ummm…Rogie, we’re Kings, dorkness is in our blood. WEAR IT WITH PRIDE! ;)
I think you got it wrong: we need to save the animals first since they can not save them selfs.
Many, if not all, of the species that face extinction is a direct result of us humans messing with mother nature: destroying habitats, killing animals for their fur, cutting of the fins of sharks and throwing them back in so they die slowly while we can enjoy shark fin soup…
So I say: first save the animals and the environment, then save us. And I bet that the process of saving the animals and the environment will save us humans too.
And if we are to take a look at the Bible: I think god made it clear when he told Noah to load the boat full of animals and not full of humans…
@Henrik: Yeah, God wanted his creatures saved for sure, but that was because Humans were too far gone…God was angry at us because of our sin. I do think that animals are very important and I love them and wouldn’t want them gone.
As far as saving the animals first…I disagree. I could be wrong, after all this is just an opinion battle, but I agree with the airplane adage. Put the oxygen mask on yourself first, then your child.
Hey, i like your site wrily mutch. So i ask you if you want to help me for free with my webdesign? Hope you will contant med, you have my mail now! :) Pleas take contact ;)
OK, I have to side with Rogie on this. The fact is the reason God’s creation is in such a terrible state is due to us humans. However, it is a direct result of selfishness, lack of respect for life IN ALL FORMS, which has lead us down this thinly iced path (pun intended) OK, seriously if the human race cares so little for their own, i.e “fetuses”, children, elderly, physically/mentally handicapped, ugly, unlovable…the list could go on. THe point is, humans must first love one another as CHrist loves us, then we can see to saving ourselves, and this creation.
Of course the animals don’t have a voice, or do they? They can be seen, their benefits to nature are evident everywhere in creation, they are part of the creation, that is the voice. Ah, but humans our voices get drowned out in the name of tolerance, choice, mother’s rights, and the ever powerful dollar. These voices are evident because of our knowledge of good and evil; and the nature of humans to use the knowledge for evil before good.
Biblically speaking though, we need to concetrate on the human harvest, we have souls, we are God’s priority, He has this creation under control. It’s humans who need the help, due to free will, to turn to God or walk away, that is the most beautiful and greatest tragedy in this creation…don’t you think?

go to this site, then tell us which is more valuable and in most need of salvation from the humans

OK, I want the Amazing Grace DVD… Why oh why is it not released yet?
You seem to forget that people are trying to save animals who are close to EXTINCT. Human race is not going to extinct any time soon (unless we kill each other in some kind of total war, or mess up environment even more than we already did, or some gigantic meteor hits earth ;), so those few animals left are higher priority. Also, like Henrik wrote above, by saving animals and environment we are saving human race too.
One more thing: there are organizations fighting for human cause too, like Amnesty International, UNICEF, etc… So it’s not like people care only about animals (in fact most of the people seem to not care at all).
In response to Ahwaykchih. My problem is NOT with saving the animals, I love animals, we support the zoos and their efforts, my husband SCUBA dives, and is greatly irritated by the ravaging of the oceans. My problem is when four dead gorillas get more world wide media attention than a four year old being sold to a brothel in the same country. The differnece is we may be comparing apples to oranges here. Humans have souls, animals were created for our pleasure, and use. Which requires good stuardship, I get that. HUMANS have SOULS, eternal beings. This world and the creation on here is temporary, humans are eternal. I think that the priority should be us first. My husband was an EMT, and he was taught first save/protect yourself, so that you can be of use to those victims who need you, i.e don’t run out into the middle of a gang fight with guns going to save someone bleeding on the ground, because then if the rescuer is injured it’s worse for the vic. Do you see what I am saying? We need to improve the human race to improve conditions on this earth. It is so simple, yet so hard for some to see.
By the way, there are a handful of organizations helping slavery, check the link. How many times do we hear about their efforts on the BBC, or CBS, or NBC evening WORLD news? The media, and general public don’t want to deal with it. Could it be that saving animals is easier than looking in the mirror and trying to save ourselves? I think when we hear of women and children, and men being used in the most horrible ways, it brings us to a place in our soul where we realize how far we have fallen, to what depths the human soul has sunk; it’s easier to walk away, or not to click on the link and do something about it. The only way to change the world is to show the love of CHrist. He has creation under control, He sent us to save the humans.
Hi Amy!
I do not agree with you Amy. The problem here is not that animals can save themselfs but choose not to, the problem here is that we humans pose the biggest threat to the environment and the animals and they need help. Mother nature does need all the help she can get.
I feel that if you save the humans first, animals and environment last, then where should you live? Earth will not be able to sustain human life unless we do something about the environment.
I do agree with you that we do not want to see other people starving, sold into slavery or other horrible things.
And I can not see that I understand the metaphor about your husband. You mean that we should wait until all the animals are extinct and the environment is beyond repair?
If we want our children to grow up and live a long, happy life, we need to act now. What we need to understand is that the effects we see now are not from yesterdays pollution, but the pollution from maybe 20,30 or 40 years ago. We have yet to see the effects of the pollution we spew out today.
Amy,your post was interesting. I have no friends, family or others around me that share you point of view. I’m not saying that you are wrong, I’m just saying that I’ve never heard that point of view before and its interesting for me to listen to and try to understand it.
I think today people are afraid of ‘being wrong’ and thus do not dare to speak out and say what they really believe or think. Discussions like this are important and you learn to see others perspective!
Take care all!
Sorry, my point isn’t clear I can see that now. The natural response of humans when they are treated well, and taught to treat others and their surroundings well, is to take care of the arena in which they live. So when we teach our children, save children from slavery, and help those in need, then the natural response is to do and be good; to everyone and thing. It’s a ripple affect so to speak. Frankly, this earth is temporal and considering we are new here, do we really know the natural flow of this creation? Really this creation has been slowly dteriating for thousands of years, not just since the industrial revolution. Yes, some of it is due to us, but not all.
My metaphor was given poorly. Writing in a hurry will do that. My point is if the rescuers, us, are injured, then we aren’t much use to the victims. I believe that we could do so much more if everyone saw the bigger, or rather underlying problem. The problem is, I’m going to print it right here…look out…here it comes….*SIN*. It’s the truth.
There, I’ve done as much as I can here!
Love ya Rogie, talk to you soon. Tell your mom to check her email, please.
Grace and Peace to the rest!
I vote for the walrus. We are messing the world up for the animals for our own personal gain (or just plain inconsiderance (new word).
The way I see it… Our getting things straight with them (the animals) will only mean better lives for people in the end.
(because we will be more aware of how every action we take has a reaction on everything.)
Love. Dorsey132
