I haven’t been this inspired in a year, or around a year. Well, heck I don’t know how long its been – but the last thing that inspired me this much was sneak peeks of Street Fighter 4’s watercolor-y goodness. I was obsessed with the Street Fighter series as a youngster (maybe it was Chun Li), but enough about that. This post is about Cabel Sasser’s wedding.

When I saw his post about the Wedding design theme “pixel flowers” and nerdery, I checked it out. I loved everything about it. There’s something about a good design taken to the full extent. I’m not just talking a good website here people. I’ve been doing web design so much, that I appreciate so much when design bleeds out to moleskins, print, decorations and more, much less a wedding! Cabel’s wedding made me wish I was a designer, and that my wife was as equally nerdy as me when I got married.

Pixel flower tree invitations.

Pixel tree moleskines for the wedding party.

Pixel art wedding character revisions.

Be prepared to pee yourself with pixel awesomeness when you read about his wedding design. I know I did :) – P.S. That’s a secret.

I saw this the other day and was amazed.

The problem with great designers is they make the rest of us look bad.

A highly inspirational story and design indeed.

You’re right. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this inspired by a design (the last time was probably my first visit to komodomedia.com).

Pixel art, when done right, is gorgeous. The invitations were stunning. Everyone should check out the original blog post to see the effort they went to in making sure the embossing from the tree and their portrait looks good on both sides of the paper. In fact, their portrait printed on the inside was done without ink; he just thought it’d be cool to have the emboss effect. Truly awe-inspiring work.

@Cosmo – Absolutely. Great designers make all of us look bad, because they so ridiculously blow us away. Typically a great designer is so obsessed with the small details, that it is like a great book. There are layers of awesomeness that don’t hit you right away. You have to visit a piece of design work over and over to let all of it hit you.

@Larry – I used to be obsessed with pixel art. Obsessed I tell you! If you get the chance, check out http://supertotto.com/. I’m sure there are better ones out there, but I love his stuff.

What makes pixel art so great is that it embraces limitations and succeeds despite them.

Awesome wedding theme – never seen something like this before.

Oh Street Fighter, I remember and miss those good old days when fighting games were that addictive! :-)

I blew a ton of money on Street Fighter at the arcade. If only I had invested that money, I could’ve lost it all this past week.

i love when people use wide images on blogs. maybe its just because it happens rarely. but the landscape is a wonderful thing.

@Brian Fiester – Dude, you so totally need to play Super Mario Galaxy. It is amazing. Totally amazing. Honestly, all of the Super Mario series games have blown me away. I <3 Nintendo.

I never played Street Fighter, but Zelda – there’s a pixeleted game for ya!

  14. Rogie said 1682 days ago

@Brian Feister – Super Mario Galaxy is for the Wii – http://www.nintendo.com/sites/supermariogalaxy/. I haven’t had as much fun playing Mario Galaxy since Zelda: The Ocarina of Time.

@Christine – MMmmmmm. Zelda. Me loves.

Really inspiring! It makes me want to get married, however I wonder if you can also design a divore? :D

Showed this to my girlfriend; she loved it. I did too. Especially the typography and the picture of the kids dancing.

  17. Rogie said 1679 days ago

@Alan Hogan – Haha! Don’t let your girlfriend get any ideas…

@Maximilian Schöning – LOL. Somehow, I think the divorce design just wouldn’t be as cute ;)
