Not so much a tutorial, this is really a near-live sneak peek into the design process behind the Logo/Icon for Rainboxx. I’ve also posted this work in progress to Dribbble where you can see the first revision. In this video, I “work out loud” and work on creating the insignia on the Rainboxx logo.

    Nice video. Good idea too.

Oh, your Rainbox link doesn’t work – you missed the colon between the http and the slashes :)

Oops, the link to RainBoxx is broken. No need to post the comment, just heads up.

  3. Rogie said 1095 days ago

Thanks for the heads up guys. Link is fixed.

I’m really enjoying your frequent videos Rogie…

In a non stalker sort of way, i promise. :P

    Great rainboxx logo!

awesome stuff man, i’ve been there before, top edges are never fun.. the bottom ones always seem easier.

    Turned out great on dribbble

I should really start to learn Fireworks.. like yesterday.

I love it overall. One small issue. On first look, the “Cloud” looks like a mouse to me. Like If I drew some whiskers on the right and a tail on the left it would scurry away.

  8. JLS said 1095 days ago

Errrr. make that some whiskers on the left and a tail on the right!

So far so good. I really hope we get to see more videos like this, maybe longer time-lengths.

Nice! Almost looks like it was composed in a 3d app like Maya. Some serious skills Rogie. Question: how’d you do the box’s faint rough steel pattern?

  11. Matthias Dietrich said 1095 days ago

Rogie, awesome work! Really appreciate your video of making my new shiny logo! ;-)

I really need to get into redesigning and reworking my website now, don’t think most of the guys here can read any word there ;-).

Looking forward to see more screencasts (not only of this logo)!

    Awesome work Rogie once again!
I was just wondering why you didn’t use the “style” thing at the time you were reproducing the gradient for the bubbles?

Imagine you create a style with the first gradient (the big bubble) so then you just have to create the shape for the smaller ones and click on the style to reproduce the gradient…

    Am I right?

Keep showing how awesome is Fireworks!

Awesome icon, and made in Adobe Fireworks!

Thanks for the tutorial — it’s been very useful to me! I always like to see Fireworks being pushed to the limit, and I think this cool vector work is a good example of such a “push”! :)))

Fantastic Tutorial , I just start learning fireworks for designing tools, especially for web and UI. I start designing with PS and AI (typical) but, since i watch your video tutorials, I realize fireworks combine the benefits of PS and AI in one. so i don’t have to jump over to another for designing. Thanks Rogie :)

Yeah your explanation is very intriguing and tickle me to try that. I hope you post more about photoshop tutorials then I can be as good as you are.

Could you please upload the video on Youtube as I can’t access Vimeo right now according to my location…

    Cheers.
