You’ve asked. You’ve begged. Fine, you get it. Here is a revision to the sign in with Twitter and Facebook button set. This time, I’ve included 16px icons, 32px icons and 3-state buttons for signing in with Twitter, Facebook and OpenID. I’ll keep this brief and not rant like I usually do.

Oh, wait! Last bit. Before you download these bad boys, realize that you’ll need to link me back as I am releasing these under an attribution license. If you need different arrangements and can’t link me back, we’ll have to settle it some other way, so contact me. Peace.

As social websites like Twitter and Facebook have become dominant forces in the social network scene and with both networks offering sign-in solutions using either of them, we are going to see “Sign in with…” buttons popping up all over the place. And why not? Why would I want to create yet another account in the account-soup that is the interweb today? I don’t! It’s a heck of a lot easier for me to sign into a site using my Twitter or my Facebook account than it is to go through a lengthy account creation process.

Well, then cool! So as signing in with these websites is becoming more popular, let’s just say that I think that the buttons are not so hot. Let’s face it. I want to click beautiful things. I don’t want to punch some gawdy twitter button that some poor developer with an amazing idea came across on an old geocities design hack’s site. I want that developer to have a beautiful “Sign in with Twitter” button.

Enough of my ramblings, I’ll get to the point. I made signin buttons for both Twitter and Facebook for you guys to use at will. There are 3 button states in each PNG image that you will see in the download: default, hover and press. That’s all! Enjoy!

When feeds became popular, it worked to have one icon on your site to point your readers to your RSS or Atom feeds. As feeds are more prevalent in blogs and websites abroad, the presence of multiple feeds abound. I have a feed for my blog, the nerdlab, my bookmarks, my friend feed as well as my twitter updates. That’s a butt-ton of feeds.

Browsers have come up with a smart way of offering this content to users and it is usually place somewhere by the location bar as shown below:

With the click of a button, you can view all of the feeds available in the <head> of the document.

But still, it’s nice to offer users an alternate way to get at your feeds, so typically you will see a feed icon lurking around a site somewhere. At times, you will see a list of two, three or more links to different feeds offered on a site. Why not have an easy and standard way of offering your feeds via a nice, compact menu, just like in the location bar, but on your site? Why I ask? Why?

It’d be awesome to allow users to click your feed icon and be presented with a list of feeds to choose from. Hmmm, I want your twitter feed in Atom format or I’d like to subscribe to your blog feed in RSS format. Done.

The jQuery Feed Menu

Here’s how easy it is. I am going to plop one right here: . Go ahead click it. You know you want to. This feed menu was created easily by the following snippet of code:

fmTuner is a small WordPress plugin for retrieving song details from your Last.fm profile and publishing them anywhere in your WordPress theme. It provides options for choosing among your Recent, Loved, or Top tracks, as well as tools to adjust the update frequency and appearance.

Collin at command-tab has whipped up a sweet piece of Wordpress plugin meat, so hop on over there and install this plugin!

Here’s another sweet little giveaway…I named him sprout! So, I know what you’re thinking right. Ohh my gourd, I just spent like 6 hours googling for a vector image of 3 seeds and a sprouted leaf. I searched high and low for a font for Komodo Media. It is such a pain to find a font for your own site. I can’t tell you how many times I scrapped the font families for the whole site and started over. I can however, remember 2 fonts that I wrestled with. Initially, I started with Chalet London 60 from House Industries, which I absolutely love, but didn’t feel right for this site. I later battled with using the lovely Archer from Hoefler & Frere-Jones, which I still love to this day and want very very badly. Somehow, I was dissatisfied with both (perhaps because of the price at the time). I decided to move on.

I’d been waiting months watching Museo unveil on Jos Buivenga’s site as he skillfully worked his craft. The timing was perfect and he released his Museo just as I was finishing my site. I just wanted to throw a shout out to him for his fine work on Museo. I think it needs more praise and is extremely low-priced for such a great slab serif font. I encourage you to check out all of the weights and drool over this sweet font.
